This month, a series of strategic deployments at the national level have charted the course for the geological exploration industry, with policy dividends continuing to be released.
The "15th Five-Year Plan" mineral exploration strategy fully launched: In mid-June, the Ministry of Natural Resources convened the mobilization and deployment meeting for the new round of strategic mineral exploration breakthroughs during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period. The meeting emphasized the need to anchor the "15th Five-Year Plan" goals, vigorously strengthen basic geological surveys and strategic mineral exploration, promote the increase of reserves and production of important minerals, and stressed the importance of developing new quality productive forces in the mineral exploration sector.
The new Mineral Resources Law provides legal safeguards: The newly revised Mineral Resources Law, which came into effect in July 2025, elevates basic geological survey work to a national strategic height for the first time in legal form. At the same time, the industry-wide discussion on the "implementation of the new Mineral Resources Law" has also brought transformation opportunities for geological exploration units in areas such as "mining rights management."
Active responses from local governments and the industry: Various regions have acted swiftly. For example, the Seventh Geological Brigade of the Shandong Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources has undertaken two ministerial-provincial agreement geological exploration projects for 2026, focusing on mineral geological surveys and geothermal clean energy exploration. Units such as the First Exploration Institute of the Gansu Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources have also actively carried out cross-regional research exchanges to deepen industry collaboration.
