Zitn's High-Precision Portable Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) system utilizes optical fiber as the sensing medium, offering advantages such as continuous long-distance distributed measurement, immunity to electromagnetic interference, and corrosion resistance. Leveraging a single strand of 62.5/125 μm or 50/125 μm multimode fiber, the system can detect temperature variations as small as ±0.1°C. It provides users with accurate, spatially continuous temperature distribution data in real-time. Capable of measuring temperature profiles over long distances up to 10 km, it meets the requirements for distributed temperature testing in fields such as oil well logging.
Applications
Real-Time Monitoring of Steam Injection Profiles in Thermal EOR
DTS enables continuous, high-resolution temperature profiling during steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) or cyclic steam stimulation (CSS), allowing operators to optimize injection rates, detect thief zones, and improve heavy oil recovery efficiency.
Leak and Cross-Flow Detection in Casing and Annulus
By identifying abnormal temperature anomalies along the wellbore, DTS can pinpoint leaks in tubing or casing, as well as unwanted fluid migration (cross-flows) between zones—even in shut-in or producing wells.
Permanent Reservoir Monitoring for Production Allocation
Installed permanently behind casing or on production tubing, DTS provides long-term, real-time data to distinguish contributions from multiple perforated intervals, enabling accurate production allocation without downhole flow meters.
Hydraulic Fracturing (Fracking) Diagnostics
During fracturing operations, DTS captures dynamic temperature changes caused by fluid injection and cooling effects, helping engineers map fracture height, stage effectiveness, and cluster efficiency in real time.
Well Integrity and Cement Evaluation
Post-cementing or workover, DTS can assess zonal isolation quality by detecting micro-annular channels or poor cement bonding through thermal response during heating or cooling tests (e.g., using warm-back or cool-down methods).
